Everlasting Splendour: Six Centuries at the Forbidden City

The highly anticipated exhibition ofthe 600th Anniversary of the Forbidden City's completion has been underway forhalf a month, come and take a look!
"Everlasting Splendour: Six Centuries atthe Forbidden City" introduces the planning, layout, architecture, court lifeof the Forbidden City, as well as the general situation of architecturalrenovation and protection, with three themes and 18 historical nodes. Audiencescan easily understand the historical culture that runs through the "time" and"space" of the Forbidden City, feel the highest state of the perfectcombination of palace architectural technology and art, and understand theinfinite charm of Chinese excellent traditional culture.
This exhibition occupies three halls in the Wumen area, the West Yanchi Building, the Main Building and the East YanchiBuilding. The tour enters from Xima Street at Wumen Gate and leaves from DongmaRoad. The exhibition is 256m long with more than 450 cultural relics andhistorical photos. The design of the exhibition is closely related to the theme of "time", with the changing scenes of the four seasons as the background, sothat audiences can feel the beauty of the changing scenes of the Forbidden City in different seasons while visiting the exhibition.
The theme of the West Yanchi Buildingexhibition hall is "The Palace and the City as One". The space is beige, highlighting the 3D effect of the stone components in the Ming Dynasty. With alarge number of graphic illustrations and calligraphy and painting exhibits, it describes the construction concept and engineering skills of the palace city in the Ming Dynasty. Through three historical nodes, it tells the prologue and completion of the construction of the Beijing Palace and the changes in the layout of the Forbidden City in the Ming Dynasty.
The theme of the Wumen main building exhibition hall is "Tolerance is Great". The colour red highlights the magnificence and exquisite decoration of the palace buildings and inner eaves of the Forbidden City in the Qing Dynasty. It also describes the changes in the architectural pattern and style of the Forbidden City in various periods of the Qing Dynasty. Through 8 historical nodes, it tells how the ten emperors of the Qing Dynasty rebuilt the buildings of the Forbidden City in order to meet theneeds of their governance, sleeping and other functions, forming the basic pattern of the Forbidden City today. The cultural relics on display reflect the integration of ancient Chinese multi-ethnic culture and the wisdom of the working people.
The ridge beast on the Hall of SupremeHarmony, the Jin'ou Yonggu Cup designed by Emperor Qianlong... These important exhibits all appeared in the Wumen exhibition hall.
The theme of the exhibition hall of theEast Yanchi Building is "Endless Life". The green colour depicts the vibrantand prosperous development of the Palace Museum after its establishment. Through 7 historical nodes, it tells about the relocation of cultural relics of the Forbidden City to South China and the architectural surveying and mapping of the central axis that occurred after the former imperial palace became amuseum. A large number of old photographs and images, historical archives and physical exhibits show the achievements and development process of the Palace Museum in various aspects since its establishment.
In these 600 years, the Forbidden City haswitnessed history of 2400 seasons; 14400 solar terms; 219000 days and nights; and countless rain, snow and wind. Here, each brick, each person and thing are worth savoring!

On September 26, the Mumu Art Museum willusher in its first special exhibition after its establishment. Based on thecollection of ancient ceramics, it will launch "Wandering: Clan, Monk,Alchemist and Lion - Special Exhibition of Chinese Ceramic Art from the 3rd to9th Centuries", presenting a feast of ancient ceramic art for tourists.
In the exhibition, white-glazed plum vasesin the Sui Dynasty, brown-glazed painted crouching beasts in the Southern andNorthern Dynasties, celadon-glazed beasts in the Western Jin Dynasty, andthree-colour wares in the Tang Dynasty are all being displayed. Among them arethe freehand white porcelain, the lotus-shaped Buddha, and the human-faced birdbody animals, as well as figurines of people from exotic regions in the contextof the Silk Road civilization. The four chapters of the exhibition are named"Clan", "Monk", "Alchemist" and "Lion" respectively, outlining the natural appearance, environmental changes and public mood of Chinese society from the 3rd to 9th centuries.
The exhibition also invites Liang Wendao, IJAPA, and Hu Junjun to join the exhibition as writers, musicians and artistsrespectively, using literature and music works to illustrate their "spiritual"stories, reinterpreting ancient artifacts from the perspective of contemporaryart. On the evening of Sep. 30th, in conjunction with this exhibition, aporcelain-themed ambient music performance will be held on the 9th floor of theLongfu Temple in Beijing. Musicians have integrated the sounds of porcelain percussion, touch, and rapid strokes into their music production. The exhibition will last until January 3, 2021.

The simple and quaint Putian wood carvings, the jade-like Guanyin Dehua porcelain statues, the magnificent gilt and rebornbig tripods... The "Ingenuity - Fujian Traditional Crafts Exhibition", which gathers Fujian traditional crafts, was recently launched at the National Museum of China.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by the National Museum of China and the Propaganda Department of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, under took by the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau, and co-organized by the Fujian Museum. The exhibition is divided intofive units: "Arts and Charms", "Ingenious Craftsmanship", "Thousands of Arts", "Stones as Ambitions" and "Oriental Charm". It is located in the South Hall 2of the National Museum.
According to the organizer, the exhibition system presents more than 200 pieces (sets) of arts and crafts in different periods and categories. It is based on the cultural relics of the Fujian Museumand supplemented by the cultural relics of the National Museum of China. At thesame time, it also brings together more than ten Fujian contemporary art works.The works recently created by arts and crafts artists fully demonstrate thecultural heritage and rich connotations carried by Fujian traditional crafts.
This exhibition showcases the colourful Fujian folk crafts through ancient and modern daily utensils and folk custom articles. The gorgeous and vivid gold-lacquered wood carvings, puppets with funny faces, wood carvings with humorous gestures, realistic stone carvings,exquisite and vivid paper-cuts, and colourful She ethnic embroidery all reflect the artist's meticulous experience of life.
Wood carvings, bamboo carvings and other craft works show the characteristics of the carving skills of different regions and materials in Fujian. For example, longan wood carving is known for its conformity and simplicity, Putian wood carving is famous for its delicateopenwork, cork painting is famous for its intricate and complex paintings, and bamboo carvings are characterized by meticulous details.
The craftsmanship of various lacquer ware inFuzhou has become a particular eye-catching part. Fuzhou lacquer craftsmanship has a set of unique expression methods and production systems. Many of thecraftsmanship techniques, such as modelling crafts, colourful painting methods,decorative techniques, and light pushing techniques, still represent thehighest level of lacquer art in the world today.
Shoushan stone carving craftsmanship has also attracted much attention. It is known that various carving techniques inthe Qing Dynasty have matured day by day, forming two major schools of carvingtechniques, Dongmen and Ximen. Famous artists have emerged in large numbers,laying an excellent foundation for the development of Shoushan stone carvingart, and a large number of fine works have been passed down to this day.
Fujian's arts and crafts have a longhistory, a wide variety of categories, unique national styles and strongregional characteristics. This exhibition also displays the Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern Dehua white porcelain to show the craftsmanship and cultural influence of Dehua white porcelain.
