On the afternoon of March 14, the Beijing Municipal Government Information Office organized the 50th press conference on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 in Beijing. At the conference, relevant information on the prevention and control of the epidemic was introduced and released in response to the concerns of the society and the public.
The reporter asked: After returning personnel enter China, do they need to deal with the expenses incurred in the diagnosis and treatment of the COVID-19 by themselves?
Chen Bei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, responded:
At present, in the diagnosis and treatment of the COVID-19, there are two general policies to manage overseas returnees:
1.Medical expenses incurred by persons who have participated in basic medical insurance and have been diagnosed as new or suspected cases of the COVID-19 during their return to China shall be reimbursed according to the relevant provisions of basic medical insurance before financial subsidies are implemented. Individuals do not have to bear the associated costs.
2.Medical expenses incurred by persons who have not participated in the basic medical insurance and have been diagnosed as imported the COVID-19 cases or suspected cases during their return to China shall, in principle, be borne by the individual patients. Personnel participating in commercial insurance shall pay corresponding expenses in accordance with the contract provisions of commercial insurance.
The medical expenses incurred by the identified persons who have difficulties shall be given medical assistance in accordance with the relevant provisions of law. In the next step, we will make a further connection with relevant national policies.
